Nicole Kidman backed the U.N. drive to end violence against women. She helped gather signatures on an Internet petition titled “Say NO to violence against women”,(www.saynotoviolence.org), rejecting violence against women and urging actions to stop the vicious acts.
The launch is part of a U.N.-backed campaign which will last for 16 days, aiming to raise the awareness about the issue and to eliminate the violence. Nicole actually did not attend the launch but said in a statement that she would be among the first to sign, calling violence against women. As UNIFEM indicates that one in three women will experience violence in her lifetime, Nicole said that it was “an appalling human rights violation”.
